The House of Vans hosted another Andy Kessler Day on October 25th, 2014 remembering New York skateboarding legend Andy Kessler. Five years ago Andy past away at just 48 years old due to an allergic reaction to a wasp sting. Each year Vans hosts an annual skate session with the Andy Kessler Foundation honoring Andy’s memory. Everyone gets to skate, eat some free food and listen to legendary producer and friend of Andy, Dante Ross DJ.

This year Steve Rodriguez MC’d, Black Dave performed and KCDC put on a skate clinic out back for the younger kids. Special Vans Syndicate AK sneakers were given out for tricks landed down the double sets out back of HOV. There was also a best trick contest in the bowl where winners (Leo Heinert & Eli Southwick) split $1.500. Some legendary names were in attendance including Tony Alva, Steve Olson, Alex Olson, John Grigley, Armando Roura, Tony Farmer, Glen Friedman and Jim Murphy to name a few. Andy’s sister Jodi drove up all the way from Florida bringing with her Andy’s last board. Classic boards were on display in the VIP lounge along with pictures of Andy. AK shirts, prints and a special deck were on sale with proceeds benefiting the Andy Kessler Foundation.

Thanks to Dennis McNett and the Andy Kessler Foundation for putting together the event, everyone who came out and of course Vans for hosting! Check the video recap and photos from AK Day 2014 below.
