Every now and then someone sits down and figures it out, no over thinking or gimmicks, just practical everyday common sense. The guys over at Clear Weather figure that out with The Donny. You say you like a simple canvas low top, but you tear through the side in less than a day? They got that covered, how’s suede right in that crucial ollie zone? Check! Oh, you tear your laces constantly, hmmmm, ok, how ’bout we move the laces over some towards the inside of your foot and out of the abrasion zone? Check! The Donny is one of the simplest and well thought out shoes to come out, free from new tech gimmicks, such as fuse this and glued that, it takes skate shoes back to its roots and improves on it. The soles are flexible and the shoe is lightweight. My only concern is ankle roll, but it’s a low top, that’s to be expected.

Style, I’ll give them a 9, it looks good on the board as well as off. Comfort, 9 – zero break-in. Skatability, 8-9 depending on you and your skating, it’s not a high tech / high impact – toss myself down a 20 stair shoe, but it works. You can pick up a pair at KCDC for $65 or so…
