Leo Heinert started up a petition to Install lights in NYC skateparks. Please help sign the petition in support!
We have more than 30 public skateparks within the 5 boroughs and there’s only ONE skatepark in Washington heights, deep under highbridge, that has lights.
We recommend the City of New York to impart the skateboard community the same consideration given to other sports I.e. illuminated basketball courts, illuminated tennis courts, etc.
You can go to Hudson River Park or any park and see illuminated EMPTY tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields. Yet you’ll find dark, yet crowded skateparks. This is unfair, uncalled for, and we demand action now. After all Skateboarding is now an Olympic sport and we deserve to have facilities in NYC where athletes can train after work just like your beloved basketball and tennis players.
