After hosting contests in all of the 5 boroughs this Summer, the Rider Cup NYC finals went down at Coleman/LES skate park this past Saturday. Winning teams from each borough (12 total) competed to win $10k along with a paid trip to South Africa and a chance to compete for the Kimberly Diamond Cup. Hosted by Steve Rodriguez the contest jumped from area to area giving one member from each team a chance to battle each other for an overall goal to get their team the most points. Judges Dan Pensyl, Joe Tookmanian and Rob Campbell collected points throughout the day and in the end Soul Team from Brooklyn came out on top! Soul Team (Brooklyn, NY) included: Dwayne Almonte, Nate Rojas, Andre Beverly, Gabe Almonte and Alternate Duron Simons (photo below).

Contest Results:

1st – Soul Team (Brooklyn)
2nd – LES Bomb Squad (Manhattan)
3rd – Team Belief (Queens)

Big thanks to Steve Rodriguez and Tim McFerran for bringing the Rider Cup contest to NYC and so much respect to everyone in the contest skating for hours and throwing down some amazing tricks. Big shout to Volcom the major sponsor, all the skate shops for participating along with the Harold Hunter Foundation for sponsoring the contests and DJ Smoke LES for holding down the music! Some photos below for anyone who couldn’t make it.
