With the season’s first major snowfall comes the big question – where can I skate in in NY during the wInter? Here’s a list (in alphabetical order) of some indoor spots to keep you skating while the snow melts.
2nd Nature Indoor Skate Park (Peekskill, NY)
Skateboarder owned & operated 2nd Nature skate park is definitely worth the trip. Huge space, skate shop on-site and it has a 2nd floor room dedicated to a micro bowl. Sessions run all week from $10 – $15, they also have monthly memberships available starting at $80.
5050 Skate Park (Staten Island, NY)
5050 Skate Park is Staten Island’s first indoor park and it’s owned & operated by BMX OG Ed Pollio and his girlfriend Angelica Popolano. Sessions are mixed with more than just skateboarding and will run you around $12 – $20 per day. 5050 is usually open all week except Tuesdays from 3pm – 8pm and Saturdays from 11am – 8pm.
Black Bear Bar Mini (Brooklyn, NY)
The Black Bear Bar mini ramp sits in the bar’s front room and is open all week from 5pm until the bar closes. It’s free but you have to be 21+ and sign a waiver to skate. The ramp is 4′ x 16′, has a 2′ extension, metal coping and a small deck on each side.
Homage TF (Brooklyn, NY)
Homage skate shop in Brooklyn has a private indoor TF with a little street section and a mini ramp. They frequently host skate lessons, camps and do Old Man Mondays (30+) open sessions weekly. Follow our event calendar for upcoming events at the Homage TF. We’ve heard about a new mini ramp going into the skate shop, check back later for more info.
House of Vans (Brooklyn, NY)
The House of Vans is a private facility located in Greenpoint Brooklyn that usually hosts open sessions one night a week to the public throughout Winter. No official dates have been announced as of now but we’re sure to hear something soon. Check our event calendar for upcoming flyers.
Nike SB Garage (Brooklyn, NY)
The Nike SB Garage recently opened in Williamsburg Brooklyn for the Winter and is open to the public by appointment only. Session registration and availability can be found on the NikeSBGarage.com site.
Oil City Skate Park (Oceanside, NY)
Oil City has been around for several years now housing not only a large street course and a wide mini ramp but it also has an indoor vert ramp. Known for being slippery at times and having a large scooter fan base this park can be challenging but it is indoors.
Skate Brooklyn Mini (Brooklyn, NY)
Winter Bowl (Private Location)
The Winter Bowl is a private key-holder spot that includes a mini ramp and a professionally built bowl by California Skate Parks. Hit up some of your old Autumn Bowl buddies to find out more info.
