East River Skateshop got a new writeup in AM New York featuring Jad Allen-Magaziner who is keeping the legacy of Richard Oates alive. After the tragic loss of Richard Oates in January the fate of East River was uncertain, but friends and family of the shop came together and came up with a plan that put Jad in charge of day-to-day operations at the shop. After getting to know Jad personally, I know there is no better person suited for it. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Rich: He is always positive, caring and kind to others. He also knows his shit when it comes to skateboarding. If you’re in the Greenpoint area, stop in and say hello!
