The redesigned Riverside skatepark redesign has been approved by Community Board 7 (34 to 0) now including an 11′ bowl. The larger bowl was added to the $1.8 million design after skateboarders voiced their concerns and pointed out that Riverside skatepark was known for having the only true public vert ramp in NYC. The existing vert ramp was special to the community since it was created in 1996 by the legendary skateboarder – Andy Kessler who who passed away back in 2009.

Big thanks to Ian Clarke and the skater coalition who attended the meetings and a job well done by Community Board 7 and designer Margaret Bracken! We’ll post more updates once construction begins.
