NBC Nightly News met up with the Girls Rider’s Organization at Homage Skateshop to put a spotlight on their practice of helping young women get into skateboarding. The news show decided to focus on positive programs, calling this story Inspiring America: Encouraging Girls to Pick Up Skateboarding. Step into a skatepark these days and you’ll see that the demographics have changed since a time when Elissa Steamer and Cara-Beth Burnside were the only well known girl skaters.
